Bio-Mechanics Research at UNO and Facility Design

The presentation will cover the history, reputation, and current bio-mechanics research at UNO, and how the building design has supported unique and cutting-edge exploration of human movement, and has expanded opportunities to do so.

Pat Birch, AIA, LEED AP, has 38 years of experience managing and designing a broad range of projects for public and private clients including higher education, affordable multifamily housing, and sustainable design. At Schemmer, Pat is a senior architect and leads business development efforts for higher education and multifamily housing market sectors. She was project manager for the recently-completed Biomechanics Research Building Addition at UNO.

Jeff Kaipust is the Assistant Director for Biomechanics at UNO. He has been an employed full-time at UNO for 10 years. He was the point person for the original Biomechanics Research Building constructed in 2013 and the again for the expansion completed in 2019. In addition, he has consulted with other Universities, private corporations, and the government for design of research laboratories and facilities related to Biomechanics.

This presentation will be held virtual via Teams (you can join via a browser or telephone and do not need to download anything). The link to join the meeting will be sent to all registered attendees shortly prior to the start of the presentation. The cost of the presentation covers the 0.5 hours of PDH that each attendee will receive.
